Gallery : Le Bourget

Birth: Born in Montréal in 1960.

Training: Kelly Patterson is a Montréal native and later studied in the city’s School of Fine Arts. She is fully devoted to her craft and paints on a daily basis.

Medium: Mixed.

Artistic approach : For Paterson, luminosity is the primary focal point of her paintings. An overview of the artist’s body of work evidences careful choices in lighting: some being discreet and others being more evident. This is explained by her belief that each colour possesses its own degree of vibrancy. It is through her unique synthesis of light and colour combinations that Paterson succeeds in expressing herself artistically.
For her subjects, Paterson draws inspiration from nature as well as strong female characters. Each painted figure is replete with its own beauty and complexity. Furthermore, the textured nature of her pieces provides an additional dimension for viewers and enhances one’s engagement with her work.

Exhibitions: Kelly Paterson has participated in several symposiums in Montréal and Québec city. In 2011, she was selected to display her work at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris.

Collections: The artist’s work can be found in private collections across North America and in Europe.
